Harold Krisel

Harold Krisel practiced as an architect at the world-renowned firm, Skidmore Owings and Merrill. Despite his prodigious talent as an architect, his enthusiasm and passion were devoted to art. He was well known and highly admired in the New York City art scene. In Manhattan and even more so in the Hamptons in the 50’s and 60’s he mingled with the titans of the Abstract Expressionist movement like Rothko and Rauschenberg. The silk screens that you see in the lobby and the meeting room were purchased from the collection of the daughter of Harold Krisel, and who is keeping his legacy alive.

Chris Pieretti

Chris Pieretti is a designer and artist living in Brooklyn. A graduate of the University of Vermont Studio Art Program, Pieretti is known for designing hotel and restaurant graphics, lighting fixtures and classic furniture pieces. He works from his multi-disciplinary studio in Williamsburg under the label Union & Company. As a fine artist, Pieretti conceived, wrote and photographed the book re:vision, which focused on 15 New York artists and creatives and featured artist Swoon, designer Jeffstaple, and actors Matthew Gray Gubler and Alexis Dziena. The art pieces for the Edge, Washington Heights were inspired by upper Manhattan’s many historic stained-glass windows. Coupled with the wonderful views of the city from the hotel¹s guest rooms, the deconstructed stained-glass motif is used throughout the hotel in the rooms, hallways and meeting spaces. Each piece was individually screen printed by hand in Brooklyn and signed and numbered by the artist. Visit chrispieretti.com for more information on Chris Pieretti’s work.
