At the Washington Square Outdoor Art Exhibit, modern artists inspired by their heroes like Jackson Pollock and Willem de Kooning will display some of their best work. The unique event takes place at Washington Square Park which is only about half an hour from The Edge Hotel. Artists range from NYU students still mastering their craft to more established veterans of the art world. Regardless of the length of their careers, all of the artists hope to tap into the creative spirit that the Village is famous for. Works run the gamut from paintings and sculptures to photography, jewelry, and even woodcraft. You have multiple opportunities to visit the exhibit, as the show will be open May 26, 27, and 28. It might be a good idea to set aside more than just one day to explore all of the works since there is so much talent on display each year.
They say that in order to have a successful baseball season, you need a lock down bullpen, a lineup full of talented hitters, and dominant starting pitching. New Mets manager Mickey Callaway is hoping that the 2018 New York Mets have all three. A bullpen anchored by Jeurys Familia, AJ Ramos, and Robert Gsellman should be able to protect any lead they are given. The team is sure to score plenty of runs with sluggers like Yeonis Cespedes, Jay Bruce, and Adrian Gonzalez. But the thing that has Mets fans thinking this could be a special year is the starting rotation filled with hard-throwing youngsters like Noah Syndergaard, Jacob deGrom, Steven Matz, and Matt Harvey. In April, the Mets have home games at Citi Field, about 20 minutes from The Edge Hotel, against the Philadelphia Phillies, Washington Nationals, and Milwaukee Brewers. If you are lucky, you will get to be a part of what the New York Mets hope is a championship season.
