Edge Hotel Supports Velocity Ride NYC

Come enjoy a scenic bike ride into New York City on what’ll hopefully be a fine autumn day and support an exceptionally worthy cause while you pedal!

We’re referring to the Velocity Ride NYC, which takes place this year on Sunday, October 6th. This awesome event musters funds for Columbia University’s Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center—one of only two Comprehensive Cancer Centers designated by the National Cancer Institute—and we’re very proud to be sponsors of it here at the Edge Hotel.

Introducing the Velocity Ride

The Velocity Ride gives its participants four options in terms of distance: 10, 25, 45, or 62.5 miles. Each of these has its own color-coded Start Area that allows all riders to come together on a final communal leg crossing the George Washington Bridge and ending up at the Columbia University Irving Medical Center.

The 62.5-mile “Silver” Start Area is at Palisades Union Credit Park in Pomona, New York, close to Harriman State Park. The “Gold” 45-mile Start Area is at Mindray North America Corporate Headquarters in Mahwah, New Jersey, while the 25-mile option’s “Green” Start is at Dynamic Productions in Orangebur, NY. The “Blue” 10-miler, finally, begins at David E. Owens Middle School in New Milford, NJ.

All Velocity Ride participants and volunteers get to celebrate at the official Velocity Finish Line Festival, which’ll feature food, a beer garden, family games, and music—plus shuttle buses ready to bring you back to your Start Area.

The Edge Hotel: Proud Sponsor of the 2019 Velocity Ride

Literally just steps away from the Irving Medical Center, the Edge Hotel is overjoyed to sponsor this year’s Velocity Ride, and we give our full support to all of its riders, organizers, volunteers, and everyone else involved. It’s tremendous to see the event raise money—100% of its fundraising—for the critically important research and day-to-day operations of the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center, aimed at better understanding and better treating a disease that claims more than 606,000 lives in the United States every year.

You can learn more about the ins-and-outs of the Velocity Ride in the official FAQ, and register for the ride here.

If you need a place to stay for the Velocity Ride, meanwhile, we’d love to host you here at the Edge Hotel, a stone’s throw from the finish line. Either way, we wish you a wonderful ride on October 6th!
