Broadway Offerings This Fall

As always, the theatrical lineup on Broadway this autumn is dazzling in its variety and its high caliber. We’ll call out a few highlights, but obviously there’s far too much good stuff to overview in a mere blog post…

Springsteen on Broadway at the Walter Kerr Theatre has been extended through this December. The much-lauded show delivers a once-in-a-lifetime experience: Bruce Springsteen alone on stage, armed with acoustic guitar and piano, interspersing intimate performances of some of his indelible songs with autobiographical stories to weave together a moving and highly personal narrative. It’s the Boss as he’s never been seen before, and time’s running out to experience it!

Then there’s Network, a stage adaptation of the 1976 Signey Lumet film of the same name at the Cort Theatre. The play stars Bryan Cranston as TV anchorman Howard Beale; Cranston’s performance in the original National Theatre production in London earned him a Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor among other accolades.

J.K. Rowling’s famous boy-wizard has come to Broadway as well (in grown-up form) via Harry Potter & the Cursed Child, which premiered in London in 2016 and opened at the Lyric Theatre here in the Big Apple this past April.

The well-received musical adaptation of Tina Fey’s 2004 smash-hit film Mean Girls, for which Fey wrote the book, also had its Broadway premiere at the August Wilson Theatre in April 2018.
