Night Life in Washington Heights NYC

When the sun takes its plunge behind the Palisades, Washington Heights certainly doesn’t close up shop: far from it. As a guest of ours here at the Edge Hotel, you’ve got quite the array of nightlife options at your beck and call—whatever sort of mood you’re in. From restaurants to clubs, there’s plenty of after-hours attractions within shouting distance of our chic hotel.

Dining Out in Washington Heights

Washington Heights, needless to say, is a very good place to find yourself struck with a heavy-duty appetite: Our neighborhood hosts a rich diversity of restaurants and cafes accounting for quite the spectrum of global cuisine: Jade House Chinese Restaurant, Il Sole Italian Restaurant & Bar, Malecon (Dominican), Tamaya Japanese Cuisine, Dallas BBQ, Empire Noodle House & Sushi Bar, Cachapas y Mas (Venezuelan), and more. This is New York City, so naturally you’ve got more than one pizza joint to choose from among that culinary lineup: Famiglia Pizzeria, Grandpa’s Brick Oven Pizza, Como Pizza, and others.

Washington Heights Bars & Clubs

If you’ve polished off a fine Washington Heights meal and aren’t quite ready to hit the hay in your boutique guest room at the Edge Hotel, perhaps drinks, dancing, or both are what the doctor ordered. Bar- and club-hopping comes easy here, thanks to a plethora of establishments and a nice range of ambiences. Destinations might include Monkey Room, 809 Sangria Bar & Grill, Arka Room, Club Deportivo, Opus Lounge, Apt 78, Vibe Lounge 175, and Buddha Beer Bar, to name only a sample.

You can also catch monthly standup at Concussion Comedy (delivering “knockout punchlines”—get it?) at Le Chéile on W 181st Street.

Parlor Jazz at Marjorie Eliot’s

For a quarter-century or so, Marjorie Eliot has welcomed music lovers to her apartment at 555 Edgecombe Avenue—just a few minutes away from the Edge Hotel—each and every Sunday for a quarter-century to host free jazz shows: a beloved tradition that ought to qualify as an official New York City cultural treasure. Donations are encouraged! (These are afternoon/early evening affairs, so we’re stretching the “nightlife” definition a bit—but we can’t not mention Parlor Jazz!)
