Que lo que? Ready for Dominican Cuisine?
In a neighborhood vibrant with Latin heritage, there’s no surprise that you can get Latin cuisine almost anywhere. One of my favorite places to enjoy rich food, cold drinks, and socialize with good people is La Casa del Mofongo. Just under 10 mins from our Washington Heights hotel, the décor is tropical with bamboo poles and kitcschy paintings of Dominican heroes. Whether you dine in or take out, try the specialty, Mofongo, a traditional Puerto Rican and Dominican dish made with mashed green plantains, garlic and fried pork. You can also sample Caribbean entrees like pollo enter a la parole, a grilled whole chicken served with rice and beans. Finish the meal with a sweet spongy tres leche cake or a guava-topped cheesecake. Open 24/7, this lively restaurant always welcomes its guest with the sound of energetic salsa, merengue, and bachata beats.
